The Edmonton Spring Market

Back to Blog

Well, it's been a very busy Edmonton and area market. Quite a lot of homes and condos have been changing hands. I've seen several multiple offer situations and I have participated in a couple.

The low interest rates and lower prices have resulted in a market surge. I have been about as busy as I want to be. My philosophy is quality not quantity, so I spend the extra effort and time to ensure that the buyers and sellers are well taken care of.

The number of single-family homes for sale has declined, so buyers have less to choose from. With less homes there is more likelihood of multiple offers. Good for sellers but it can be difficult for buyers. It's also not easy for the Realtors. I will explain this "multiple offer scenario" in another blog post in the future.

So, my advice to someone who has a mortgage pre-approval at a nice low rate, don't take too long to get looking at homes. The market is starting to slow down towards vacation-season, so there are less homes coming on the market. Do your homework, pick a good Realtor, and know what you want.

Enjoy the warm weather. Come on out to Bike Nites at the Ranch Roadhouse (on Wednesdays from 6 PM til dusk at Calgary Tr and 61 Ave - Edmonton) to support the E4C Edmonton School Lunch program and the Youth Emergency Shelter Society (Y.E.S.S.). I'll be there on my motorcycle, most nites, often working the BBQ.
